I was wondering if you know how many time share units there are in the area? What is the vacancy rate? How do they impact the Rt. 60 corridor, i.e. have they affected hotel occupancy?

Thank you for your comments on my blog. I do not know the answers to all of your questions. However, I will look into it, and post more as I find out. The timeshare developments that I track have the following number of units: Powhatan Plantation 500 units Greensprings Plantation 208 units planned (148 developed) Kingsgate 300 units Patriots Place 196 units I do not know the vacancy rates of these units. It appears that the timeshare units do affect the vacancy rates of the hotel/motels in the Williamsburg area. In interviews with local business owners, I was told that the overall occupancy rate for Williamsburg over the past year was approximately 45% (Daily Press - October 5, 2009 reported the occupancy rates at 44%). Older motels, in good condition, had lower rates around 25% to 30%. Check back for more up to date information.
